Dangerous Boy by Mandy Hubbard

Source: Publisher
A modern-day retelling of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with a chilling twist
Harper has never been worried about falling in love, something she is skeptical even exists. But everything changes when Logan moves to town, and to Harper's shock, the two tumble into an intense romance. It's everything she never thought she wanted.
Then she meets Logan's twin brother, Caleb, who was expelled from his last school. True, he's a bad boy, but Harper can't shake the feeling that there's something deeply sinister about him--something dangerous. When Logan starts pulling away, Harper is convinced that Caleb's shadowy past is the wedge being driven between them. But by the time she uncovers the truth, it may be too late.
The author of Prada & Prejudice, You Wish, and Ripple delivers a modern-day retelling of a famously gothic tale, full of suspense, lies, and romance.

Harper is a very sweet character. She has a lot of fears, but she is trying to overcome some fears with her boyfriend Logan. He is a very sweet and protective guy, but the person that he wants to protect her the most from is his brother Caleb. Strange things happen to Harper and people that she cares about. Harper begins to suspect that it is Caleb as he approaches her. While the first half is spent with many exciting events, the second half slows down as she tries to figure out what is happening.  Her stubborn nature towards the end annoyed me, because it went against her constant fear at the beginning. I mean she was constantly depending on other people and suddenly she is independent. It just didn't add up to me.  The plot was really exciting and intense.  Like the atmosphere from the book kept me reading, because it was so creepy and even scary at times.  Hubbard's writing was not as strong as the previous books, but it was still good. Overall I enjoyed this book, but it  could have been better. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants an intense read with great atmosphere.

Waiting on Wednesday (94)

Title: But I Love Him
Author: Amanda Grace
Publisher: Flux
Date: May 8th 2011

Tonight was so much worse than anything before it.
Tonight he didn't stop after the first slap.
At the beginning of senior year, Ann was a smiling, straight-A student and track star with friends and a future. Then she met a haunted young man named Connor. Only she can heal his emotional scars; only he could make her feel so loved-and needed. Ann can't recall the pivotal moment it all changed, when she surrendered everything to be with him, but by graduation, her life has become a dangerous high wire act. Just one mistake could trigger Connor's rage, a senseless storm of cruel words and violence damaging everything-and everyone-in its path.
This evocative slideshow of flashbacks reveals a heartbreaking story of love gone terribly wrong

This book sound amazing and I want to read it so much. Amanda Grace is also a pen name for Mandy Hubbard.

Waiting on Wednesday (39)

Title: You Wish
Author: Mandy Hubbard
Publisher: Razorbil
Release Date: August 5, 2010

Kayla McHenry’s sweet sixteenth sucks! Her dad left, her grades dropped, and her BFF is dating the boy Kayla’s secretly loved for years. Blowing out her candles, Kayla thinks: I wish my birthday wishes actually came true. Because they never freakin’ do. Kayla wakes the next day to a life-sized, bright pink My Little Pony outside her window. Then a year’s supply of gumballs arrives. And a boy named Ken with a disturbing resemblance to the doll of same name stalks her. As the ghosts of Kayla’s wishes-past appear, they take her on a wild ride… but they MUST STOP. Because when she was 15? She wished Ben Mackenzie would kiss her. And Ben is her best friend's boyfriend.
I love Mandy's first book, Prada and Predjudice. It was cute and funny, overall a sweet read. I can't wait till You Wish. It has a cute title, plus Mandy is a local author (Hopefully I will be able to go to a signing for one of her next books, and meet her. She is a writing machine, she has two coming out next year...) Also I love books with wishes and how they go wrong. Also I love the cover... Cupcakes are epic.
PS. This is my 365 post this year, which was a New Years Goal. So, yay! Most of my blogs die out after a matter of months, but this one is still going on. I think it is because I am very passionate about books and I don't have to write much about my life...

Callie should be having the time of her life. She id on a class trip to London. The problem is that not many of her classmates like her, since she called her best friend Katie and made fun of the cheerleaders... while one was in there. So, Callie decides to use her "emergency" credit card to buy a pair of Prada pumps. After just putting them on, Callie trips on a grate, and wakes up in the year 1815.
She finds a caste and is mistaken for Rebbecca, Emily's Long lost friend that should be sailing over from America, soon. Callie has spark with Emily's Cute, but arrogant cousin Alex, also known as Duke of Harksbury. Emily is getting forced to marry Denworth, a man that is thirty years her senior and Emily might have feelings for someone else.. Callie has little time. Will she be able to break the engagement, make Alex open up, and Gain some grace?
I love Callie and her Unique personality. It was great to see her shenanigans and humor. Emily was so sweet and you'll be cheering for a happy ending for her. Alex was very interesting and charming. Both the modern day and past were well done and elegantly mixed together. I can't wait to see more from Hubbard in the Future.
Prada and Prejudice comes out on June 11th.
