Another interview with myself...

The questions are from Carol. Thanks for sending them!

1.What do you like about YA novels?
They are really easy to relate to and tend to be more developed in the plot and character, then quite a few adult fiction. Also that we all have had that crush, class, or something in the book that is somehow nostalgic to me.
2. How do you choose what you're going to read next?
I mostly just grab a book randomly. While, I do keep in mind release date, due date, book clubs, and what I am in the mood for.
3. Are you an inspiring author? If so, what type of books do you like to write?
Yes, I am. I would love to write Paranormal, Fantasy, and just General YA Fiction(My current WIP).
4. What, in a book, turns you off?
In a series, when they explain what happened in previous books ten+ times. Quiches. Something that doesn't add up science wise. Badly done flashbacks/paranormal events. Lack of cultural references. When a book make no sense, but you have to keep reading since it is the last in a series and the first three books were pretty good or so you thought until you get to the crap-ist book in a while. Lack of action. Characters that are Mary Stu or Gary Stu. This list could go on for a long time..
5. What do you like about your blog?
I like meeting other YA blogger through it. Comments are always nice. I like reviewing books and sometimes getting reccomendations.

1. If you want to be interviewed, leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick thequestions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions and let me know when you have posted it, so I can link it.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interviewsomeone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Peace out, Sarah.

Secret Keeper by Mitali Perkins

Rating: 4.5/5
Asha is the second daughter in a very traditional in a Bengali family in the 1970's. There are riot and jobs are hard to find. Asha's father is forced to go to America in order to find a job. Her sister Reet, her mother, and herself are going to Calcutta; They are going to live with her father's family. In Calcutta, Asia is trapped in her Grandmother's house. She is unable to go to school, because of lack of money. Her mother finds it disrespectful for her to go outside of the house, on her own. So her freedom is limited.
Asha finds relief in writing in her diary or as she calls it, her Secret Keeper. She tends to write on the roof, until she find out that her neighbor, Jay has been spying on her. He wants to paint her. Asha's sister, Reet has caught the attention of the young men in town. Many are their cousin's Raj's friends. Asha and her family are left with difficult decisions that would alter their life's.
I found this book to be well descriptive. The characters drew a hole in my heart from how life like they were and how the ending wasn't exactly what I wants. It was still amazing. If you want to discover a book, that will pull your heart strings and makes you wonder... How much would you sacrifice to save someone that you loved? It also was great at making Asha and It seem like real sisters. I really hope that you check this book out.

Happy Reading, Sarah.

Nation by Terry Pratchett

It was very fantastic and just an incredible book. It is about a boy that loses his family and everything by a giant wave. A English girl lands on the island and they have to work through language and cultural difference to build a Nation.

It is an ARC that I got from Harper

Robert has returned in order to figure out, who is trying to kill Aurelia. Soon, she finds out that she is in danger and helps to find who is trying to kill her. I loved this book.
This book is also signed. =D

Dark Dude by Oscar Hijuelos

Cover Art Saturday: Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers

Summary(from Barnes and Noble):
Perfect Parker Fadley isn’t so perfect anymore. She’s quit the cheerleading squad, she’s dumped her perfect boyfriend, and she’s failing school. Her parents are on a constant suicide watch and her counselors think she’s playing games…but what they don’t know, the real reason for this whole mess, isn’t something she can say out loud. It isn’t even something she can say to herself. A horrible thing has happened and it just might be her fault. If she can just remove herself from everybody--be totally alone--then everything will be okay...The problem is, nobody will let her.
This book sounds like my cup of tea and something that I would really enjoy. Every review that I read praises how amazing this is, and I just really want to read it. I also follow Courtney on Her Twitter and she is hilarious. I hope her humor is present in the book, though it has serious tones. Seriously, make a twitter account just to follow her. Anyways, the cover is amazing and gorgeous. The colors are so pretty. I can't wait to read Cracked up to be. It comes out on Tuesday, so go buy it then.
Also check out Courtney's Blog, where she talks about her reading the Twilight series and many other funny entries.
Love Sarah.

Cover Art Saturday: Mitali Perkin's Secret Keeper

I have only read Monsoon Summer by Mitali. It was amazing and I recommend it.
Secret Keeper is about Asha and her older sister, Reet. After her father loses his job, Baba is forced to leave India. Her mother, her sister, and herself are sent to live with her uncle in Calcutta.
They don't find it that pleasant. With little savings and time quickly passes. Ma becomes depressed at times and is having a hard time, submitting to her mother and sister-in-law. Reet attracts unwanted attention and marriage proposals with her beauty. Asha become impulsive, because of taking care of Reet and Ma. Secrets are revealed. Asha can only find solace on the rooftop, with her diary or Jay Sen, the neighbor that likes her. News of Baba reaches them, and Asha has to make a choice that will change their lives forever.
Goodness that sounds amazing to me.
The cover is also gorgeous. I love the colors and design. Also, Asha on the cover appears to have some secrets and is contemplating something.
Secret Keeper comes out on January 13. I am so excited for it.
Visit Mitali at her amazing blog: http://www.mitaliblog.com/
Happy Reading!
Peace out, Sarah.
