Since the Shift happened, everyone under sixteen can see and talk to ghost that haven't passed over yet. Aura is one of them, and while it is annoying, it is a part of her life. On her boyfriend Logan's birthday and the biggest night of his life, something horrible happens. Logan dies and Aura is left with her memories of him, and also his violet ghost that can talk to her and do almost everything that they used to do, but touch each other.
Aura also has a new friend Zachary. He is very supporting and also alive. His support means more to Aura then she would ever admit. Aura's relationships between the living and dead become more complicated, then she ever imagined. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.
Aura is an interesting character. She had a strong voice through out the book. The probelm that I really had with her, is that the grief seemed to be fake at times, and I couldn't understand how she was in love with Logan. Logan was such a jackass. He was only thinking about himself most of the time and didn't want Aura to be happy. Zachary was super sweet and scottish! He actually seemed to care about Aura. Aura's aunt seems to not really be that great of a guardian and was absent most of the book.
The plot was actually really interesting. I found a lot of originality in this world. The world was full of amaziness that I really enjoyed, but there was also a few probelms in the book. The book's pacing was slow at a few points in the plot and I didn't fully connect with Aura. Yet, I look forward to the sequel Shift. Shade is a great paranomal book that I reccomend to anyone looking for an original and fun read.
