Happy New Year!

It is a bit less then an hour. So Happy New Year!
I am going to post a few goals that are blog related or reading related.
1. Read 150 books
2. Review at least 2 books a week.
3. Meet more authors... and stay in touch. I should be meeting four or five in January... on one day. Hopefully more in the year.
4. Write 5,000 words a week.
5. Keep a journal.
6. Comment on more blogs and talk to more reviewers.

That is about it. I set goals, not resoultions. It seems like a better word.
So, What are your goals?
Happy New Year!
-Sarah

Books of 2008

This year, I challenged myself to read 365 books. In other words to read a book every days, I didn't read a book everyday, but I did finish 365 books. Some, I have read before... others for the first time. I did enjoy most of them and quite a bit became one of my favorite.. I also read 103909 pages, which I think is quite an accomplishment. Another Apology...

I have posted two review this month. EPIC FAILURE!
Sorry. I had Surgery at the beginning of the month, I had so many doctor's appointments that I should have lived there, My Older Sister opened a Barista Stand, We had a huge snow storm, Project for Awesome, Christmas Shopping and Celebration, My one of my younger sister's 15th Birthday and the anniversary of her death day, and then my uncle got really sick to top it off. So, this December wasn't the best month for me.
I also have 2 days to read seven books, to have 365 book in a year. Would you want me to post this massive list?
Contest Questions: I am having an upcoming series of contest. I have a few questions. Should they be spaced out or all in one week? Do you mind if they are ARC of released books? What should I do as extra entries... Quotes, Trivia, or a Mix of things?
All feedback would be amazing. I am going to read.
Reviews soon. =D

Cover Art Saturday: Envy by Anna Godbersen

If you haven't read the Luxe series, then you are missing out. These books are like a mix of Gossip Girls and historical novels. The covers are also astounding. Each one has a lovely dress on it, with the character that rises to power in the book.
I love the dress and the pose in this book. The red on the dress could have the meaning of what happened in the last book.
I hope you check out this series. Envy comes out on January 27th. Yay!
Peace out, Sarah.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Hanukkah!

and Most of all Happy Holidays!

I hope you all have fun with your families and remember what the holidays are about.

I'll post a review of a few books later this week and Cover Art Saturday. My internet keeps coming and going. I can't wait for next year and a few things that I have planned. =D

Love, Sarah.

Cover Art Saturday: Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers

Summary(from Barnes and Noble):
Perfect Parker Fadley isn’t so perfect anymore. She’s quit the cheerleading squad, she’s dumped her perfect boyfriend, and she’s failing school. Her parents are on a constant suicide watch and her counselors think she’s playing games…but what they don’t know, the real reason for this whole mess, isn’t something she can say out loud. It isn’t even something she can say to herself. A horrible thing has happened and it just might be her fault. If she can just remove herself from everybody--be totally alone--then everything will be okay...The problem is, nobody will let her.
This book sounds like my cup of tea and something that I would really enjoy. Every review that I read praises how amazing this is, and I just really want to read it. I also follow Courtney on Her Twitter and she is hilarious. I hope her humor is present in the book, though it has serious tones. Seriously, make a twitter account just to follow her. Anyways, the cover is amazing and gorgeous. The colors are so pretty. I can't wait to read Cracked up to be. It comes out on Tuesday, so go buy it then.
Also check out Courtney's Blog, where she talks about her reading the Twilight series and many other funny entries.
Love Sarah.

Lalala,

It has snowed here and my house is freezing. I haven't been reading a lot lately, because I haven't ate for six of the past eight day. I am so hungry that all I can think about is food.
I had to repeat my surgery that was done on Monday. Hopefully, I won't have to do it with this one. Surgery is in less then 12 hours. I really should be in bed, but I can't sleep. So, just explaining why the post lack-age and all. I'll be back with more reviews and such, soon. I hope all is well with everyone.
Peace out, Sarah.

Cover Art Saturday: Sea Change by Aimee Friedman

Sumanary: 16-year-old Miranda Merchant is great at science...and not so great with boys. After major drama with her boyfriend and (now ex) best friend, she's happy to spend the summer on small, mysterious Selkie Island, helping her mother sort out her late grandmother's estate. There, Miranda finds new friends and an island with a mysterious, mystical history, presenting her with facts her logical, scientific mind can't make sense of. She also meets Leo, who challenges everything she thought she knew about boys, friendship...and reality. Is Leo hiding something? Or is he something that she never could have imagined?

My Thoughts: I just started reading Aimee Friedman, when I read The Year My Sister Got Lucky, earlier this year. Miranda sounds a lot like me and this book sounds cute. I really liked this book and I love the cover. The intensity is like dripping off the cover. Goodness, I love it. June 1st seems to love to wait to read this book.
Peace out, Sarah.

What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell

Rating:5/5
Summary: Evie Spooner is fifteen years old, and her stepfather is back from WWII. When she suddenly is taken by her mother and stepfather to Palms Beach, Florida. Evie and her family meet Peter Coleridge, he is an ex-GI that served with her father. She finds herself falling for him. Evie soon learns some secrets about her family from Peter. Then one day, tragedy strikes and Evie must find where her loyalty lies and herself.
My Review: What I Saw and How I lied is an amazing novel of coming to age. It brings in such difficult topics like anti-Semitism, Greed, Blackmail, Adultery, and Dishonesty. It is told with Vivid imagery, that you could picture everything. The characters are honest and like able. You will love Evie and her mom. The book is also addicting and a suspenseful ride. The setting is amazing, I felt like I was in 1948. The way that it ends allows room for a sequel and I can't wait for Judy Blundell's next books. This book won the National Book Award for Young Adult, so anothor reason to check it out.
Peace out Sarah.

While cleaning my room...

So, My sister and I found her Team Switzerland shirt that I made for her. She is now Team Jacob, but the coolest part is the sleeves. It all started one day, when my best friend came over and my gift to her was some Scott Westerfeld Books(Peeps and Midnighters). My sister decided that she wanted to do it.
We had varily any letters, so she got the short end of the stick. After, Sierra left she found the sleeves boring. So, she hand me a sharpie and Ta Da. I actually like the Jacob one more, thought I am totally Team Jasper. *Swoons*

The Edward & Bella one wasn't quite as cute, but I still liked it.

So yeah, this is fun times. Her shirt says Team Switzerland(on the front and I am aware of the missing d) and Vampwolf Fangirl, the pictures are blurry. Mine had Team Edward and The Lion and The Lamb on the Lower half. The coolest thing is that we wore these to meet Stephenie Meyer in August and she commented my sister on her shirt. =D
So yeah this is all good times. Reviews and other post coming up as I get done. Also, my friend Vanessa gets to meet Holly Black, today at a signing. Have fun!
Peace Out, Sarah

Booking through Thursday(1)

1. Do you get to read as much as you WANT to read?
2. If you had (magically) more time to read–what would you read? Something educational? Classic? Comfort Reading? Escapism? Magazines?

1. No, I am always busy, though I am not doing anything that I like. If that make sense, I have school, doctors, friends, and church. My doctors are about a three hour drive and I can't read in the car anymore.
2. I tend to randomly choose books (by their covers or recommendations). Right now, I have about 50+ books in my to-read pile. So, I would read those. They are YA, a few adult novels, and classics.

Peace out, Sarah.

Cover Art Saturday: Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

Laurie Halse Anderson wrote one of my favorite books, Speak. Since then she has written many other wonderful books. Wintergirls is about a girl named Lia. She finds out that her former best friend Cassie is dead. Lia and Cassie always had a contest going to see who could be the skinniest. Lia is haunted by Cassie and tries to keep the weight on. The reviews that I have read, make it sound so amazing and a must read.
The cover is also astounding. The blue looks like ice and the glowing green eyes are just amazing. The look of unsureness is perfect and I love the cover.
Wintergirls will be releases on March 19th. I hope you check it out or Laurie's many other books. They are well written and very enjoyable. Her books are very true to any one's feelings in their situation.

Sorry for the lateness of the post. I have been watching Harry Potter Movies all day and playing on neopets.
Peace out, Sarah.

The Devouring by Simon Holt

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
Summary: Reggie finds a mysterious journal at her job at a local book store. She reads it compulsivly and learns about "Vour". She finds it to be an interesting, imaginative story or the diary of a lunatic. She decides to read it to her little brother Henry, who she basically takes care of. Her mom ran out on them and her dad is also busy. Her brother finds the "Vour" to be scary and the fact that Sorry Night is the next day makes him fear it more. Reggie and her best friend, Aaron laugh at the book and on Sorry Night, try to find the "Vour".
After Sorry Night, Henry acts strange and he just keeps on getting stranger. Reggie thinks that he might have become a "Vour". She must go past her deepest fears and bring back her brother.
Notes: This book was very creepy, yet addicting. The writing was alright, but it could have been better. I liked the characters for the most part. Thought their fears seemed very cliche. I did like this part of the book:
"When dark creeps in and eats the light,
Bury your fears on Sorry Night.
For in the winter's blackest hours,
Comes the feasting of the Vours,
No one can see it, the life they stole,
Your body's here but not your soul..."

The creation of the "Vours" was convincing and well developed. The ending wasn't that great. It was too abrupt. I had a lot of questions, left unanswered. In all, If you are looking for a bone chilling read, I would recommend it.
As always, Happy Reading!
Peace out, Sarah.
